Part-Time Seasonal Farm Crew
Farm Overview:
Cellanie Farms is a newly founded 140-acre organic-in-transition market farm located 5 miles north of Madison in the Town of Westport, WI. We are developing a regenerative, tractor scale, diversified vegetable farm and perennial fruit orchard on approximately 16 acres.
Cellanie’s mission is to re-connect individuals to their food, and the land from which that food is grown. We intend to be good stewards of the land while producing nutrient-dense, delicious food for our local community. Celebration of local food production provides an opportunity for community connection and is a core principle guiding Cellanie Farms mission.
Job Summary:
Cellanie Farms is seeking students eager to learn about and practice regenerative farming techniques at a commercial scale this summer! The part-time seasonal farm crew role offers opportunity to work with an experienced team to grow delicious and nutritious diversified produce. Crew members will participate in all aspects of growing produce. This is a great position for someone who wants to work hard and experience the benefits that regenerative farming brings to human and environmental health.
- The ideal start date is between mid-May through and early-June with steady work anticipated through August, and into September for those with availability following summer.
- Minimum of 15 hours per week with opportunities to work more.
- Minimum of three days working per week.
- Weekend work may be necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Harvest and wash produce.
- Follow direction from management and SOPs.
- Weeding and cultivation.
- Harvest, wash, and pack.
- Attend weekly meetings.
Qualifications / Ideal candidate:
- Must be 15 years of age or older with reliable transportation
- Must be a hard worker with ability to work consistently to meet performance expectations.
- Reliable and flexible.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and be active throughout the day with frequent bending, kneeling, and lifting.
- Must be prepared to work in all types of weather.
- A desire to learn about regenerative farming and get your hands dirty.
- Be able to work on a small team and follow directions well.
- Have a positive attitude.
Compensation:
$12-$16 per hour depending on experience. Performance-based raises available.
